Easy navigation puts BACnet information at users’ fingertips
After months of hard work and dedication, BACnet International is pleased to announce the launch of a global BACnet industry-wide multisite. The new multisite includes integrated websites for the BACnet Committee, BACnet Testing Laboratories (BTL), BACnet International and The BACnet Institute (TBI). BACnet International is an industry association that facilitates the successful use of the BACnet protocol in building automation and control systems through interoperability testing, educational programs and promotional activities.
The content in all four websites has been updated and harmonized to simplify the user experience and make relevant BACnet content easily accessible. The consistency of layout and design elements throughout the multisite ensure a seamless integration of information to support all members of the global BACnet community.
The primary goal of the multisite design process was to create a more valuable, user-centric resource that brings major BACnet sites together into one ecosystem. Specifically, we wanted to focus on making it easier for users to learn and locate valuable information particular to their needs around the BACnet protocol, including product testing, protocol updates, free educational resources, volunteer opportunities, and association member benefits.
The four websites are:
- BACnet Committee (ASHRAE SSPC 135 website): Find technical information on the standard and its ongoing development
- BACnet Testing Laboratories (BACnet product certification website): Find the global listing of certified products as well as information on the product testing and certification process
- The BACnet Institute (BACnet education resource): Find self-paced online courses, a curated Resource Library with articles, videos and presentations, plus an “ask the experts” Community Forum
- BACnet International (BACnet community information, education and promotion): Find information on BACnet including community events, case studies, news, and global developments.
“Up until now, users have had to visit various unconnected sites to find information on BACnet and they weren’t sure where to go for the specific answers they sought,” stated Andy McMillan, BACnet International president and managing director. “With all of these sites now accessible from one main navigation bar, it is much faster and simpler to get to the exact information desired. We have always wanted to provide the industry with the knowledge they need to get their jobs done, and this new multi-site makes that much easier.”
About BACnet International
BACnet International is an industry association that facilitates the successful use of the BACnet protocol in building automation and control systems through interoperability testing, educational programs and promotional activities. BACnet International oversees operation of the BACnet Testing Laboratories (BTL) and maintains a global listing of tested products database. The BACnet standard was developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and has been made publicly available so that manufacturers can create interoperable systems of products. BACnet International complements the work of the ASHRAE standards committee and BACnet-related interest groups around the world. BACnet International members include building owners, consulting engineers and facility managers, as well as companies involved in the design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and maintenance of control equipment that use BACnet for communication.
